Mexican Fan Palm Uses
The tall, slender Mexican Fan Palm is an excellent accent tree for very large lots. The size and fast growth rate requre careful placement.
It is suitable for open spaces, yards, parks, very large gardens and within parking lots. The commonly cultivated ornamental looks amazing when planted along streets, avenues, boulevards, drives and residential rights-of-ways. Along streets the palm towers over and stikes against tall buildings.
The Washingtonia Robusta looks nice in coastal gardens and groves.
It is not well suited for small residential gardens. It will look funny for all people in homes since they can see only phone-pole like trunk from their windows. And the palm causes trouble. It demands annually pruning that is very dangerous due the palm’s large size.
It is appropriate to grow young palms in containers. They perform well for ornamental planting purposes.
The Mexican Fan palm is a popular ornamental in southern of the United States, in tropics and subtropics and areas with mild climates. It is one of the most commonly seen palm trees in California and Florida. It thrives in the deserts of Nevada, Arizona and south of New Mexico. It grows well in Hawaii. And it is a common palm tree of the coastal areas in Oregon.
